  5. Primary Data Requirement: The research should primarily be based on data, including psychological constructs (preferably with two continuous variables). It should not focus solely on aspects like finding prevalence, incidence, awareness, or gender differences, or on test construction and adaptation. Secondary data should not form the basis of the study.
  6. Title: The title should be specific and reflect the important variables in the study.
  7. Literature Review: The review should cover studies related to the variables in the study and should be narratively written, not presented in bullet points.
  8. Research Methodology: The methodology should align appropriately with the research problem and objectives.
  9. Objectives and Hypotheses: The objectives and hypotheses should be framed appropriately.
  10. Sample Size: The sample size should be adequate. Suggestions to increase it can be provided, but it might be smaller depending on the design and objectives of the study.

Submission Guidelines for IGNOU MPCE-16/26/36 Project:

  1. Project Dissertation Initiation: After your project synopsis has been approved, you can begin your project work.
  2. Project Dissertation Submission: Upon completing your project, submit a copy of the project dissertation at the Regional Centre (RC). The deadlines for submission are:
    • For July Batch: 31st May
    • For January Batch: 30th November
  3. Dissertation Evaluation Preparation: The RC will send your dissertation to the External Examiner along with the Evaluation Scheme (Appendix XII) for evaluation.
  4. Dissertation Evaluation: An External Examiner from the approved list provided by the Discipline of Psychology, IGNOU, New Delhi, will carry out the dissertation evaluation. It’s important that the External Examiner should not have guided the learners for whom they are evaluating the dissertation.
  5. Viva-Voce (Term End Exam): After receiving the evaluated dissertation, the RC will conduct your Viva-voce. The same External Examiner who evaluated the dissertation will conduct this exam. The Viva-voce is scheduled as follows:
    • For July Batch: Between 1st July – 14th August
    • For January Batch: Between 1st January – 15th February
    • If the dissertation is submitted by 31st May, it will be considered for the Term End Exam (TEE) during 1st July to 14th August. If it is submitted by 30th November, it will be considered for the TEE during 1st January to 15th February.
  6. After Viva-Voce: The RC will send the award forms to the Project Section, SED for uploading of marks. The total mark in the project is 100, and you need to secure a minimum of 40% to pass in the project. If you fail to secure the minimum 40%, you will be declared as failed and will have to select a new topic, prepare a synopsis, conduct the study, and then submit the dissertation.
  7. Ensuring Correct Enclosures: The RC will ensure all required appendices and documents are included before sending your dissertation for evaluation. If anything is missing, you will be informed.
  8. Appendix-XVI: Important dates for MAPC project synopsis and dissertation are provided in Appendix-XVI for your convenience and reference.
